Yesterday I showed you guys what I wore New Year's Eve during the day, which I also planned on wearing later that night, but this is what I actually ended up wearing! Blythe and I both couldn't figure out what to wear at the last minute, so be both decided to dress up a little. Not too much, but it was New Year's Eve after all! The party we went to was really casual though--just a couple of our friends hanging out in one of our friend's barn (wow it sounds so country to say that--it's really just a big shed), listening to music, talking, and watching some old, nostalgic movies (okay, yes, Disney channel. Stop that laughing. Younger siblings were there, too!). It was definitely an amazing way to start off the new year. 

And, of course, some obligatory high school best friends pictures. But also because these were the only ones I could find that came close to full outfit shots;)

Hey guys! It's been a while since we talked! This is what Blythe and I wore to a Christmas party we went to a few weeks ago. It was a lot of fun, but a little difficult to dress for, since it was unclear how dressed up people would get, so we went for the middle. I've worn this dress really casually before, and Blythe's dress can be dressed down really easily. Sorry shoes aren't included in these pictures though! Blythe and everyone else were wearing some amazing heels and I, of course, wore my tennis shoes.

Homecoming

You guys probably never thought you were going to see these pictures, but here they finally are! Homecoming was a couple of weeks ago, and this is what we both wore to the dance! Both of us actually found our dresses at the last minute, but totally love them! Blythe found hers for $5 at the thrift store the week before the dance. And as you know, Charlotte can't wear anything with metal, and luckily found this dress by chance at Forever 21 without a zipper! And of course, we went with a big group of our friends, so it was great to hang out with them. Honestly, though, a ridiculous amount of cliche stuff happened. Like broken heels, same dresses (that's what I, Charlotte, get for going to Forever 21--although I never ran into the girl who had the same dress), and crushes with other dates. Very high school. But still, the dance was tons of fun! The music choices were much better than they had been freshman year and so was the theme! For more about our Homecoming, go here or here!

Yes, those are leopard print high waisted shorts. Don't judge. Besides, I already get enough weird looks from strangers whenever I wear them in public. But I like them.
That's either saying something about my taste level, or other people's.
But anyway, they're especially special because they were originally pants. Now, I will admit, I have issues with leopard print high waisted pants. So I saw them hanging in the thrift store, and I had this brilliant idea, "Hey! I'll make those into shorts! They'll be slightly cooler than pants."
So I grabbed the pants, scrounged in the depths of my purse for a couple dollars, and took them home and sewed them, and voila! Shorts!
I know that story interested all of you very much.

Times Two: Fangirling

Yeah, we really just went there. Fangirling. Really. See, we're really big BIG fans of Doctor Who. It's pretty much the best show ever, and so a while back, we got a group of friends together and had a Doctor Who party! We watched episodes, ate some slightly Doctor Who themed food, and made t-shirts! Everyone's shirt was different, and these are the shirts that we made! Blythe's shirt is a reference to the episode Blink, and Charlotte's shirt is a reference to this amazing skit David Tennant (the Tenth Doctor) and Catherine Tate (one of his past companions) did. Anyway, we all wore our shirts to school today (group picture to come), and this is how we styled them! 

Our outfits are pretty similar, but we mostly wanted to show off our shirts and not cover up any of the words. I mean, we wanted people to be able to read them, so skirts weren't the best option. But you'll probably see these these shirts on the blog again worn a few different ways!

Yes, we are hopelessly in love with the series, but we have no shame! Have you ever made shirts like this? And worn them in public?

So, today, while wearing this dress, I have had at least five people come up to me and comment, "Wow, that dress is really...bright."

And what else to say to that then, "Why, thank you, Captain Obvious!"?

But yes, this dress is indeed bright and, just to spite you all, I increased the saturation on all of the pictures to make it seem even brighter. No, no, don't thank me, I can feel your gratitude through the computer screen.

Really. Well, that's either gratitude or the pain of hundreds of eyes.

Musical Monday! - Blythe's Pick

So this is Bo Burnham and he might be my new favorite singer/artist for 2 reasons: 1. I love this song! It's so good, a bit ironic, and of course slightly funny no matter what Bo says at the beginning of the video. and 2. OMG, he is extrememely attractive! Seriously!

Well, that might not be the best reason for liking him, but I can also say that I respect him as an artist and I really like his music.

Hats: Made by me!

Hello, dear readers, I'd like you all to meet a very special friend of mine. This is Penelope. I found her recently, listlessly sitting in a corner of a beauty shop and figured she would be the perfect model for my new hats. Speaking of those, I made them. Oh yeah, be impressed. They are my children, except for the fact that they don't talk, scream, poop, or otherwise annoy me. (I don't do well with small kids.)

But I do care for them very deeply and would be very put out if one of them ever finally decided to finally grow up and leave the house.

But, moving on to how these children of mine came into existence. (Oh, no, not like that, you nasty people. Get your mind out of the gutter!)

You see, I found this pattern online on how to make a pillbox hat, and, being bored and having no social life as usual, I decided to make one. So, I went to Hobby Lobby, bought some felt, some bias tape, some ribbon, feathers, and a bar of chocolate, came home, and started to work. I made the first one in about 3 hours, with more than a few mishaps along the way. But, in the end, I figured it out and was able to produce my first hat! I almost cried from happiness and the pin pricks in my fingers. It was a very emotional moment, complete with instumental music.

And then, I became a hat-making fanatic. I was one of those people who lived in Hobby Lobby, who cowered when anyone came too close and who scuttled around the aisles, sniffing out my materials for my next project. Finally, it got to where the manager had to call security and have them remove me from the premises. It was a bit awkward.

But, I recovered and have again become as normal as I possibly can. And, that is my exciting, heart-wrenching, pathetic story that I had to share with you. I hope you all enjoyed it, and now, if you'll excuse me, I hear my hat-children calling.

But, yes, I know that I have been gone for the longest amount of time possible for a human being to be missing. This is what I have spent all that time doing. Mature, right? I know. Just kidding. I have been up North, doing studious work like this.

But, anyway, Mario Kart aside, I'm back and you should look at this adorable puppy. Just for no reason. At all.

Summer's Start

We decided that a great way to kick off summer would be a little shopping trip/adventure, so that's what we did last week! We went to a new area of a city close to where we live that we hadn't been before, and it totally paid off! There was tons of cute murals, boutiques, and cafes that were a lot of fun to explore! The day ended with a productive trip to Buffalo Exchange, which of course, is no surprise! That store is amazing! If you haven't gone before, you simply must. 

Not my (Charlotte's) favorite or best outfit ever. But for laundry day/lots of thrifting/vintage shopping/weird hair day, it was perfect! 

And yes, I did attempt the blogger tuck-in. It didn't work out so well and, as you can see from the two pictures above, I'm a bit indecisive. Oh well!
