Last Minute

I don't often go shopping, so it was just a coincidence that I was able to right before the 30 for 30 Challenge starts! If you follow us on Twitter, you know that I got really lucky at an Urban Outfitters sale, and the rest of you will most definitely hear about that later! But I was at Target picking up a few things when I saw this bag! I wasn't actually looking for a new purse, but I just fell in love with this one! It was the color that drew me in, but I started to adore it when I opened it and saw the lining. I'm a huge sucker for pretty linings in bags, which is just one of the reasons I love Marc Jacobs bags so much. But that's another story. Lately, I've been looking for purses that are a little smaller and more structured, as I'm really good at stuffing slouchy, big purses with absolutely everything until they're ridiculously heaving. So this purse was pretty much a perfect size, though a bit big! Since I was going to do a post about this purse, I figured I might as well do a mini "what's in my bag" post. 

The third picture is basically the kind of stuff I carry around. It's stuff I need, like my wallet and glasses. I'm not like Velma when it comes to glasses where I can't function without them, but they're really handy to have on hand. The wallet is pretty self explanatory, but the travel light isn't so much. I didn't use to carry one around, and I often don't, but it's really come in handy these last few days as I've been doing a lot of traveling. Since the sun sets so early, it's nice to still be able to read in the car (of course not while driving)!

And because I love color so much, as soon as I bought this purse home, I started thinking about color combinations, such as the one in the last picture. I can't wait to wear those two together! Or tie my scarf from this post on the handles!

Dear Summer,

Shirt: Old Navy Clearance

Shoes: DSW Clearance (80% off!!)

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself, guys. Blythe and I saw these shoes when we went to DSW after Black Friday and I really liked them, but something kept me from buying them. I kept thinking about them in the weeks after and so when I went to go Christmas shopping, I stopped by just to see if the shoes were there. Well, they were, and they fit! And so since they were about $12 from an original price of $90 AND real leather (!) I just had to buy them! I really love them and I can't wait to wear them in the summer! 

The shirt was something I found on clearance in Old Navy and I immediately liked as soon as I picked it up from the rack. I have a real soft spot for any kind of romantic-y top and so I fell hard for this one. It even has my favorite kind of puffy 3/4 sleeves! It might be a little big at the sides so I'm thinking about attaching a piece of ribbon or lace so I can tie the shirt at the back, but I'm not sure yet! 

I really can't wait to wear these pieces together! They would make for the perfect semi-casual summer outfit like to go to the movies or something, especially with a poofy skirt:

These skirts have the perfect shape, but I think I'd ideally want something with a lot of color and with a big print. Old Navy had something similar in their stores, but sadly they're not online, or I would show you guys. Sigh. I miss you, summer.

I'm really in love with just about everything LuLu's has in it's shop right now. It's kind of ridiculous, how many tabs I had open going through their site. Basically, this is the cut down version, because I didn't want this post to keep going on and on forever, and because I was afraid what would happen if I opened too many tabs. I mean, I didn't even look at everything they have on their website. So, in short, I think I need to revise my Christmas list.

What's On the Zodiac?

I've really been getting into zodiac jewelry, and out of all that I've found, Urban Outfitters definitely has the best. So, above are my favorites. All of them, except for number 3 on the top and 1 on the bottom (the same thing) are necklaces. The reason that I have two sets of pictures is because the top one shows the front and the bottom shows the back. I really love how on the two bottom ones, the actual constellations themselves are shown. It makes the pieces much more interesting especially since not a lot of people know what the constellation looks like. 

Of all of these though, my absolute favorite has got to be number 1 on the top and 2 on the bottom (the same necklace). I really love that it has the sort of rough edges, which is most visible in the bottom picture. It gives the pendant an organic and raw feeling, which I think is awesome. I also really like that the constellation has mini "diamonds" in it, which gives it a little something extra. The price is also fabulous, at $18, which is much less than the others. The only thing I don't like about this necklace is that it's only available in "Libra." That's kind of limiting and rather disappointing for a necklace that is totally amazing in all other aspects. 

While I also really like the silver necklace, it's bit out of my price range. But besides that, I really love it a lot. I find the symbol that's etched in the silver a lot more intriguing as a pendant that just the name of the Zodiac, but I still feel that $48 is a bit much. 

In terms of the bracelet, I like it, just not as much as the other ones. The only reason is because it's more of a "statement piece" and I tend to like the simpler things better. Honestly though, I would still wear this bracelet. 

Anyway, I think any of these would make a perfect Christmas present for yourself or a friend, especially with some pretty good prices (the bracelet is $24 and the silver necklace is $48). I know what I would ask for if I was a Libra!

So recently, I've been focusing on the idea of simpler clothing. I tend to go over the top with my outfits, so I decided that I would challenge myself and try pairing a simple graphic tee with either jeans or a skirt. I've been trying to find some cute tees that don't look juvenile, because that's really easy to do. So I've found some that I think are cute, even though my 80's movies obsession is apparent in the first couple of t-shirts. The bonus with the Delia's shirts is that they are all on clearence! The Modcloth ones weren't, but they are still pretty reasonable prices.

Pullis On the Brain

Like I've mentioned before, it's starting to be fall. As of the moment, I am completely obsessed with sweatshirts. But saying sweatshirts sounds weird to me. I almost always say "pullis" in my head, which is the German word. It's actually an abbreviation for the other German word, "pullover," but I like "pulli" much better. 

Any how, here are the current pullis that I love. Most of the ones that I've been able to find are in solid colors, which are great, but I love patterns and graphics and all that jazz. So here are a few of the patterned ones that I've been able to find, though they are sadly, a bit out of budget.

So the first few are $50 and the last one, $130. Dang it! Everything else though, I practically drool over. If I were to pick a favorite, it might be the very first one, and Blythe and I are both in love with the last one. So I'll probably just wait for things to go on sale. 

In the meantime though, I'm thinking about making my own...I really hate how fabric paint puffs up and makes the fabric underneath all stiff, so I want to learn how to screen print. Or I could work with cut out fabric in different colors and then sew them on. Anyway, I'm thinking about doing an owl pattern and/or an anchor. I've found some similar patterns on reasonably prised sweatshirts, but the image was tiny, and as you can see, I like mine to take up the entire front of the sweatshirt. 

As for solids, I have a few, and just recently discovered a few old ones in a closet. I'm not sure if they will fit yet. They will probably be a tad, or possibly quite a bit, big, but they'll be in the wash this weekend so we'll find out!
